Hello all,

As I've said before, this election will be crucial for the United States. We're wading into a time of economic and global turmoil. You see it on the news everyday, the weather phenomena, the catastrophes worldwide, now our national economy and debt (Largely caused by the Iraq war and a disregard for the middle class). Then you have the middle east factor and the wildfire of corporate powers and international bankers steadily sucking up resources in their own personal game of global monopoly.

Wake up!

I know some of the candidates like Kucinich, or some may even say Ron Paul, would have been good agents of change, but they are too far behind to win and we're now left with 4 possibilities of who will lead us into these new times.

For Republicans we have McCain and Romney. McCain is the forerunner for republicans. But assuming that you don't want us to stay in Iraq for another 100 years, and that you don't want the government eliminating more of your rights, they are out of the question.

So we have two choices left: Hillary or Obama?

There is a definite problem with Hillary and the Clinton family. They are networked with the Bush family! They have vacationed together, they have supported each other! They are in cahoots!
"The Washington Times revealed that the current President even takes foreign policy advice from Clinton, along with his father, and lets them sit in on CIA briefings."
If you want some leads on this information here is one of many sources: http://infowars.net/articles/may2006/100506clinton.htm

Obama is the one who can unite Americans, including the youth-our generation. He can stand up to special interests groups and manipulative power-hungry corporations. If you want to vote for someone who might make things right in our country then please consider this.

And celebrities can be wrong just like anyone, but they do have resources and with these resources there often comes inside information. Many of them know about the corruption behind the scenes regarding the American Government. That's why so many celebrities are endorsing Obama. Will Smith, Robert Deniro, Scarlet Johansen, The Kennedy's, even Arnold's wife is going against him and McCain to endorse Obama! And there are many more. Over a hundred large newspapers have recently moved to endorse him as well.

This is Obama's site if you want more info. Primary votes are tomorrow.
http://www.barackobama.com/index.php

And if your excuse is that the electoral system doesn't work, well I agree that there is a flaw in the fact that the popular vote does not directly elect our president, BUT the popular vote puts a LOT of pressure on each delegate to vote in line with his/her district's population. If the popular vote goes one way and the delegate's vote goes another way there will be a lot of controversy and it is something that rarely happens because these delegates don't want to lose popular support and be routed in the media and elsewhere.

So you can make a difference-
Peace.

Would anyone be able to give me an opinion about which area you think is a better area to settle down? I guess I don't have to live in the same town I'd work in, but being that I'm doing a cross-country move, I have no clue about either.

Also, if you could suggest the more economical areas to look for an apartment near either of these locations, that would still be considered nice, safe for a single female who may come home late at night at times, and that would have more to offer than an apartment and job (meaning a social life).

I know, lots to ask. I just feel that the tribe folk will be honest, and friendly in their suggestions.

My girlfriend and I are moving to OC in the fall (I got a great job in Aliso Viejo at Soka University), and would love some advice on where to live. I can't say I'm a fan of the cookie-cutter malls and houses I saw in Aliso Viejo, but I hear there's better places for misfits like us. We want to be within close commuting distance too. What's funky in OC? Ethnically diverse? Give me the scoop! Thanks!

I drove to Huntington Beach and walked in and talked to Tommy T directly. He is by far the most knowledgeable person about body piercing I have ever met. I had steel barbells in me that were of industrial quality. I did not even know there was a difference between Industrial surgical steel and implant grade surgical steel. The people at Outer limits were nice but nice don't make you honest or smart. And they told me over the phone that they had the best Jewelry selection in Orange County. That was a BOGUS statement. Tommy T's has about 10 times as much Jewelry as outer limits. Anyways I will always go to Tommy T's from now on. Happy Piercings!!!

This is a real easy answer. They are wanna be 'mods' imitating the scooter groups of mods that used to cruise the border of Orange around Chapman and also Villa park. Before parents bought Bmw's for their spoiled brats there was the scooters. When we used to go to the midnight movies at the Brea mall back in '82 ,'83 etc. Big groups of them would cruise in. All wore flack jackets and were as pale as anyone I had ever seen. This was at a time when getting a tan was #1 and people didn't see the sun as a deadly enemy , so the "mods" were an anomoly. Then nobody thought showing their ass crack or touching themselves in the crotch area or saying "its all good" or hating them selves for being white was way to go. Instead everyone divided up by the music styles they listened to...NOT racial lines. There were Rockers, punkers, ...mods...., new wave Devo types surf punks from Scumington Beach who would try to grab a long hair and give him a free hair cut ,and unexplainably, people who lived to throw toast at Rocky Horror picture shows...{ it wasn't as "cool" yet to be Bi ,gay, or goth or new romantic as it in fashion today....soooo toast was thrown in the theatre. Since the original cultures that settled the So. Cal area are becoming less significant to the current population living/moving here today, then all things retro are in so people can feel a part of some thing that WAS real. Sad that kids have to re-live a movement that now has only an oldie but goody 'Who' band of 65 yr. olds to represent their origins, but thats why people are getting in to indie rock, imo,... Elvis types at the Harbour House etc. The show must go on.

I was wondering if it was just an anomaly, a regular occurrence, or what....

I was cruising in my 'hood down Victoria toward Harbor one day in the greater Mesa area and ran into a bunch of them, who then turned down Harbor probably to cruise down Newport Blvd. from there. were probably coming from H.B. or somewhere. this was a few months ago, but then I forgot all about it.

I would like to invite to a very special event in the OC. I'm a film student at Chapman University, shooting my thesis film next weekend in O'Neill Regional Park in Trabuco Canyon. It's a love story that takes place at a Burner type gathering. We are organizing a party for the film shoot and need as many real Burners, dancers, freaks, beautiful party people as possible to create the magical atmosphere of a forest party.

Come out and play on the film set! The location is beautiful, we'll have free food, music and bonfires. We can even arrange free camping if you want to stay. It all takes place on Friday March 2nd and Saturday March 3rd at night. You are invited to one or both nights, but the bigger party will be on Saturday. Please, come out and support this unique film. My goal is to portray our beautiful loving culture on the big screen. To confirm and get all the details, call the extras coordinator Marcieanna at 949-212-6660 or e-mail veniceashton12@yahoo.com.

Tentation is a cool new club in Newport Beach. The decor, the lighting, the sound, the video projections, the floor plan – it’s all just right and so easygoing. The people are really cool, and that includes the employees. Everyone who works there is friendly and that helps make the vibe so great. Most of all, though, people are there for the music and to dance. I highly recommend it.
Hello Volunteers!

We greatly appreciate the fact that our volunteers partner together with us to complete our mission statement which is to minister the love of Jesus to the least, the last, and the lost of Orange County through the provision of assistance in the areas of guidance, counseling, education, job training, shelter, food, clothing, and health care. Please look over the opportunities listed below to see where you might best serve. Thank you!

Urgent Need for Food Drives!

Food Drive Kits are available to assist you in planning, coordination and publicity. They can be downloaded from our website or mailed. We need to distribute more than 7 tons of food every month!.

Community Outreach

Our Strong Beginnings program serves families in Orange County with children 0-5 years old. It provides such services as Case Management, Mental Health Services, Medical Treatment, Career Assessment, and Housing Resources. We are currently in need of volunteers to help in the following areas:

Mobile Technological Education Vehicle

A six-month commitment is desired.
Alpha Quest Tutor: But Jesus said, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” If you want to be instrumental in bringing young lives to Jesus Christ and showing His love to them through homework assistance, Bible instruction, and supervision through the Alpha Quest programs set-up at various Orange County homeless motels, this ministry could be for you. Group and individual Tutors are needed Monday through Friday evenings from 7-9pm. A 6-month commitment is required. A Live Scan background check is mandatory for all prospective volunteers. Math, Literature, Science, and Social Studies are part of curriculum with emphasis on reading comprehension and math (Math I and II, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry). The program is designed to be a low-maintenance software driven program requiring minimum help from tutors except for answering questions. Tutoring sessions can be done in individual or group sessions. Hours are flexible, 2- 3 hours per week with on-call possibilities.
Support Office, Tustin Top

Warehouse Projects: Won’t you put your hands on them as Jesus did? “And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.” While we are not able to personally touch every hurting man, woman, and child in Orange County, using our hands, we can put the hands of Jesus Christ upon their lives by helping with a warehouse sort. We are currently seeking volunteer groups for sorting food, clothing, toys, hygiene kits, and compiling food boxes. This is an event specific opportunity with flexible days and hours.

Vacation Bible School: Church groups are needed who would be willing to select a week during summer vacation, Christmas vacation, or Easter break, to organize and run a VBS type event for the children. Time is flexible. There are several weeks to choose from during the summer, aside from summer school, so there are lots of opportunities! VBS will report to the Parenting and Child Development Supervisor at the House of Hope.

Hope Family Housing, Orange Top

Summer BBQ Meal Service: What a fun way for your group to serve the families in our transitional living facility! Your group would be responsible for providing, preparing, serving and clean-up of a dinner meal on a Saturday from appx. 4:00pm-7:00pm. You could even throw in some game time or a water balloon fight! Use your imagination...

Village of Hope, Tustin Top

Licensed Electricians, Plumbers & Carpenters: There is an immediate need for both individuals and companies who can assist us with ongoing projects. This is a great way to help move The Village of Hope along to completion. Once completed, the Village will provide transitional housing for 192 homeless men, women and children.

Maintenance & Clean-up: Various projects are available at our up-and-coming Village of Hope. This is a great opportunity for school, business, community and church groups of 10 or more to help move The Village along to completion. Times and days for these projects will vary and can be coordinated through the Volunteer Manager. All volunteers must be over the age of 13. Plan on getting dirty.

Painting Projects Top

Great team building activity! We are in need of groups and individuals to help with painting projects at our various facilities. This can include: cleaning, prepping, painting and clean-up. The commitment can be one-time only or we can place you and/or your group on a list and contact you as these projects become available. Because we have a very limited maintenance staff, this help is invaluable!

The California Highway Patrol will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy in
South Orange County starting January 25, 2006. The state estimates that 22 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 3 million will go to pay California Highway Patrol officer overtime. There will be 90 California Highway Patrol officers on duty at all times patrolling the 7 freeways.

They are the following: 73, 55, 133, 241, 57, 5, 605 freeways

Now 7 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every California Highway Patrol officers is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes. They have issued 50 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers
and they are bringing all their part timers on full time.
If you live or work in South Orange County you must take one of their freeways. It's up to you how fast you are doing when they do.
This is a test by the CHP to raise the extra funds for the State of California.
The wealthy folks of South Orange County can afford this new tax.
The California State Legislators dreamed up this law to help close the budget gap or something like that. So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on you.

The phrase “Behind the Orange Curtain” is a leftover from the Cold War and our reference to the USSR, Behind the IRON Curtain. ;)

It was terribly popular to use back in Reagan years. And considering this is a very Republican county, it was attached to us by the media. Back then, OC was very uptight. If you think it is now, it was far worse in 1984.

I was born and raised in OC. I grew up in HB. A lot has changed and life doesn’t seem quite so stifling as it once did.

Anyway, I just wanted to give my two cents on the matter. :D

Am a big U2 fan, I was online the day that the tickets went on sale but wasn't able to find any. Growing up in Monterrey Mexico, I could only dream of seeing them. They may have gone to Mexico City but I was too young and my parents wouldn't have allowed me to go. Now that I'm here, it is my chance!

What: Movie Event

When: Sunday, March 20, 1:00 PM

Where: (email me for directions and location in Garden Grove)

Event Description: The long-promised, much-anticipated, weeks-in-the planning Movie Event is happening! Come enjoy an afternoon of mind and spirit stimulating audio/visual media with a thoughtful, well-informed audience (namely, us!) :). If this goes well, it may become a semi-regular thingy.

Screening:

The Battle of Algiers - The film that in the late 1960's was required viewing and a teaching tool for radicals and revolutionaries. Banned in France for years, former national-security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski said: "If you want to understand what's happening right now in Iraq, I recommend The Battle of Algiers."

The Power of Nightmares - This BBC documentary is top-notch and will dispell the notion that there is a vast network of terrorists out to 'destroy our freedom'.

Orwell Rolls in His Grave - Excellent documentary on the current state of the media and journalism in general. Better than OutFOXed (though that's good, too).

The Corporation - Psychoanalysing corporations to determine what kind of 'people' corporations are based on their behaviour. May be one of the best documentaries I've ever seen.

We may not get to all these, and there may be some surprises on the bill. We'll see how it goes.

RSVP with an email to me for the directions and location (in Garden Grove). Clear your schedule: you don't want to miss this! :D
